Discover Trondheim in Euro Truck Simulator 2 Nordic Horizons
The upcoming Nordic Horizons DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 invites drivers to explore the stunning city of Trondheim. This preview showcases its rich history and reveals new oversized cargo routes available for players who own the Special Transport DLC.
A Glimpse into Trondheim’s History and Landmarks
Founded in 997 by Viking king Olav Tryggvason, Trondheim boasts over a thousand years of history. The city’s in-game recreation pays meticulous attention to detail, allowing familiar players to recognize key locations.

Northern Trondheim: A Hub of Activity
The northern part of the city features a unique two-story roundabout along the Rv706, connecting surface roads to a tunnel leading into the center. This area also includes a shopping mall, the town hall, and Leangen train station, all positioned authentically.

The Historic Port and Cultural Center
Following the Rv706 leads to the port area, home to the historic Dora submarine pens. Nearby, drivers will find the Trondheim Maritime Center, a local factory, and a popular waterfront sauna, all faithfully replicated from their real-life counterparts.

Authentic Details for an Immersive Experience
The map designers have enhanced immersion with smaller architectural details. These include a utility building near the port shaped like a submarine sail and several sculptures adorning a nearby roundabout.

Trondheim: Norway’s Key Transport Hub
As a major transport link between southern and northern Norway, Trondheim offers diverse cargo opportunities. Deliveries can be made to a supermarket, scrapyard, furniture factory, quarry, construction site, river port, and paper mill. The new dynamic cargo loading and unloading feature is active at the river port (loading), construction site, and paper mill (unloading).

New Special Transport Routes in Nordic Horizons
For drivers who own the Special Transport DLC, the Euro Truck Simulator 2 Nordic Horizons expansion introduces five new challenging oversized cargo routes. These jobs feature escort vehicles and police support for safe delivery.

The expansion also adds new cargo types, including the Wind Turbine Blade and the Underground Loader. More details on these are available in a dedicated blog post.

These high-reward jobs test a driver’s skill, requiring careful manoeuvring through tight turns and difficult terrain. The five new Special Transport routes are:
- Jyväskylä to Vaasa (Finland)
- Kuopio to Kajaani (Finland)
- Oulu to Rovaniemi (Finland)
- Narvik to Kiruna (Norway to Sweden)
- Trondheim to Östersund (Norway to Sweden)
Drivers who do not own the Special Transport DLC can purchase it on Steam to take on these challenging jobs.
