Project Benelux Rework: Exploring the Multi-Layered Capital of Luxembourg
As development on the extensive Project Benelux Rework for Euro Truck Simulator 2 continues. We are thrilled to offer a detailed preview from the heart of Europe. Today, we focus on Luxembourg City, the compact yet remarkably multi-layered capital set to receive a comprehensive overhaul. This city, famous for its dramatic terrain, preserved fortifications, and striking modern districts. Offers some truly unique driving experiences our team has worked hard to recreate.
A Capital Built on Cliffs and Valleys
Luxembourg City is uniquely perched high above the winding Alzette River. With its quarters spread across clifftops, plateaus, and deep valleys. This geography presents a rewarding challenge for truck drivers, immediately felt when approaching the iconic Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge.

From this bridge, players will enjoy a sweeping view towards the historic centre and the Casemates du Bock—partially preserved medieval defences carved directly into the rock face. “It offers beautiful views from the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge of the partially preserved medieval city walls,” says Jan Hrdina, Map Lead for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
From Historic Vistas to Modern Kirchberg
Crossing the bridge, the skyline of the modern Kirchberg district unfolds. Known for its European institutions and contemporary architecture, this area adds a distinct layer to the city’s identity.

The route is animated by details like a construction site near the congress centre, emphasizing that Luxembourg is a living, evolving city. The road eventually dips beneath the towering Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge, offering an underpass view that highlights the city’s impressive verticality.
The Industrial Heart and Iconic Landmarks
Descending into the northern valley, the atmosphere shifts to Luxembourg’s vital industrial zone. This area, home to a steelworks factory, supermarket, truck dealer, and other depots, forms the city’s economic backbone and provides key delivery destinations for players.

Further exploration will bring players near the iconic Three Towers, a landmark that adds another layer of architectural history to the city’s map.
An Experience Beyond Its Size
While Luxembourg City is one of Europe’s smallest capitals, the rework promises an experience rich in atmosphere, variety, and depth. It represents a significant step in raising the region to the modern quality standard ETS2 players expect.
