Discover the Reworked Liège: A Belgian Jewel in the Euro Truck Simulator 2 Benelux Update
As part of the extensive Benelux Rework project for Euro Truck Simulator 2, the historic city of Liège receives a major visual and structural overhaul. This preview showcases how the “fervent city” on the Meuse River is being transformed into a rich, authentic destination for virtual truckers, blending industrial heritage with iconic landmarks.

Liège: A City of History and Industry
Nestled on the Meuse River near the German and Dutch borders, Liège boasts over a thousand years of history. Once powered by coal and steel, this Wallonian cultural center retains its economic significance. The rework captures this duality, presenting both its industrial backbone and stunning architectural heritage.

The Industrial Route: Monsin Island and the Riverport
Approaching from the E25/A25, drivers are guided along the Meuse River to the industrial heart around Monsin Island. This key logistics hub features a functional riverport depot and a major beverage factory on the western bank—a recognizable landmark recreated for delivery jobs. The area is completed by a nearby office building and a hydroelectric power station, emphasizing Liège’s practical economic role.

Architectural Landmarks and Skyline Views
Heading west on the E25, drivers encounter the massive E25–E42–E40 interchange, offering breathtaking views of the Liège skyline. From this vantage point, several iconic structures are visible:
Modern and Historic Icons
- Guillemins Railway Station: The city’s striking modern transport hub.
- Basilique de Cointe & Interallied Memorial: Historic landmarks overlooking the city from the heights.
These landmarks are strategically placed to serve as memorable navigation points during cross-country hauls.

Attention to Detail: Immersive City Elements
To deepen immersion, the map designers have added subtle yet significant details across Liège:
- A detailed waste recycling complex by the riverside.
- The tall, distinctive pillar of the De Wandre Bridge on the horizon.
- The Mémorial Albert Ier at the tip of Monsin Island.
These elements collectively build a believable, lived-in urban environment that rewards observant drivers.

Conclusion: A Must-Visit Destination in Benelux
The reworked Liège in Euro Truck Simulator 2 is shaping up to be a highlight of the Benelux expansion. It successfully merges functional trucking logistics with scenic urban driving, offering a comprehensive experience that reflects the true character of this historic Belgian city.
