Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.58 Update is Now Live on Steam
The Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.58 update is officially released and available on Steam. The team at SCS Software thanks everyone who participated in the Open Beta, reporting issues and providing feedback on the forum. This feedback was invaluable for fine-tuning the update.
Driving Academy: Double Trailer Handling
The ETS2 1.58 update introduces a new Driving Academy module: Double Trailer Handling. This module provides hands-on know-how for handling trucks with two trailers, known as doubles. It features challenging scenarios that guide players step-by-step through forward driving, maneuvering, and reversing.
The experience is split into three chapters. It begins with forward-driving maneuvers, then teaches reversing techniques. Finally, it presents real-world-inspired scenarios to test newly gained skills.

Completing all scenarios rewards players with the “Frankie” wiener dog toy for their truck cabin. The team also adjusted an achievement in the Truck Driving Proficiency module. The “Nerd of the Road” achievement now requires three stars in only 15 scenarios instead of 23. Learn more in the dedicated blog post.

Renault Trucks T Major Refresh
The ETS2 1.58 update brings a significant refresh to the Renault Trucks T. Two brand-new interiors are added: Anthracite and Carbon 2024. These feature a digital dashboard and camera mirrors. Under the hood, the truck can be equipped with two new DE13 Turbo Compound engines: the DE13 TC 440 Euro 6e and DE13 TC 480 Euro 6e.

On the visual side, truckers can enjoy two new Smart Racer paint jobs. The Renault Trucks T Tuning Pack DLC receives facelifted exterior parts. These include eight new front grilles with an updated logo, new DE13 front and side badges, and THE BOSS roof grilles, which can now be painted in any custom color.

Scania R & S Customization Expansion
Several new customization options are added to the Scania R and S. These apply to both the base game and the Mighty Griffin Tuning Pack. Front bumpers are now available in three different sizes and three color variants. This allows drivers to better match their setup. Bumper lights have been moved to their own locator, and a new fog light type has been added for easier mixing and matching.

A new front fender with radars has been added. It can be changed independently from the steps under the cab. At the rear, a new type of fender cover is available in three color variants. The steps now have their own locator and include an additional variant. Two new front logo variants are available, one with underlighting.

IVECO S-Way 6×2 Chassis Addition
The ETS2 1.58 update expands the IVECO S-Way with a brand-new 6×2 chassis. This features a steerable and liftable middle axle. Alongside this addition, the entire truck model has received general bug fixes and optimizations.

Map Changes in Preparation for Coaches DLC
In preparation for the Coaches DLC, several adjustments have been made to the map. These accommodate coaches and bus stations. Drivers may notice smaller changes like new signs and road markings. Larger modifications include newly added areas in selected cities featuring larger bus stations and terminals.

Vehicle Behavior Physics Update
In preparation for new vehicle types like those in the upcoming Coaches and Road Trip content, the team has significantly refined the in-game physics simulation. Improvements include vehicle behavior, response to inputs, and collision handling.
Adjustments were made with new vehicle categories in mind. Many improvements also benefit all existing trucks. The goal was to improve realism and responsiveness while keeping the core driving experience recognizable.

Key Physics Improvements
- Throttle Response: Now based on a proper throttle torque engine map for more realistic acceleration.
- Off-Throttle Engine Resistance: Provides smoother, more natural coasting.
- Hill Start Assistant: Makes starts on inclines more reliable.
- Keyboard Control: New optional double-tap system for smoother throttle control.
- Wheel Geometry: Wheels now properly camber off-road and incorporate caster when turning.
- Audio Refinements: Turbocharger sounds reflect engine activity more accurately.
- Engine Behavior: Engine revs slightly to build torque before pulling away.

Major UI Overhaul: Route Advisor & Quick Info
The ETS2 1.58 update brings a complete UI overhaul, starting with the Route Advisor. The old Advisor has been replaced with a new widget-based system. Information is now presented through individual graphical widgets dedicated to specific functions.
This allows for a cleaner on-screen experience and gives players more control. Widgets can be customized to suit different playstyles, from minimal setups to information-rich HUDs.

Quick Info Feature (Redesigned Pause Screen)
The Pause Screen has been completely reworked into the Quick Info feature. It presents key information in a structured, readable way. This includes controls, truck information, job details, and local regulations all in one place.
Job information, truck damage details, and service options have moved here from the old Advisor. This keeps the HUD cleaner. The redesign paves the way for future gameplay experiences like Coaches and Road Trip.
In multiplayer, players can access Quick Info by pressing F1 in convoy mode.

Tutorial Redesign & Contextual Hints
A redesigned tutorial introduces a new system of contextual hints. The goal is to present helpful information to new players at the right moment organically. This system incorporates prompts from the current first job tutorial and new hints.

Management Screen Improvements
The 1.58 update brings refinements to management screens (Driver, Trailer, Truck, Garage Managers). Improvements focus on usability, clarity, and polish.
Players can now more easily track hired drivers’ skill progress. The selected skill training for each driver is highlighted in the overview. Company-related information like name and logo is also more accessible.

Truck Configurator Improvements
The Truck and Trailer Configurator received targeted improvements for better controller and mouse use. Navigation is clearer, with better feedback and added hints. A new “Apply to All Compatible” feature allows quick color changes for paintable wheel accessories.
